Optima is made of ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) fiber and is the highest strength synthetic fiber rope available made by ROPERS.
Optima3 has many characteristics, such as high strength, light weight, wear resistance, impact resistance, low temperature resistance and so on. It is an ideal rope for marine and industrial markets.
Under the same strength, the weight of Optima3 is only 1/8 of that of steel wire rope. Corrosion resistance and aging resistance, no lubrication is required during use. The operation cost is greatly reduced and easy to maintain. Better fatigue strength and long service life. It is safe and reliable.
Specification:
Do you have knowledge of UHMWPE ropes?
Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE), also known as high-modulus polyethylene, (HMPE), is a very tough material, the third largest high-performance fiber just after aramid fiber and carbon fiber. It is made up of extremely long chains of polyethylene with a molecular mass usually between 3.5 and 7.5 million, which all align in the same direction. It can be said that the fiber form of HMPE is closest to the ideal form of high-strength fibers, and this structure provides maximum strength and stiffness.
HMPE ropes have become the optimal solution for many applications due to their excellent performance. Mooring ropes made from HMPE exhibit numerous outstanding characteristics:
- High strength and light weight
- Flexible handling
- Floats in water
- High resistance to impact
- Resistant to most chemicals
- Resistance to salt spray corrosion
- High tension and bending fatigue resistance
Benefits of HMPE winch line
1)Safety
One of the most important features of HMPE winch line is the safety advantages they provide. The HMPE fibers are very stiff and lightweight, and do not store energy. This means that if the rope breaks due to unforeseen circumstances, there will be no harmful rebound effects. In contrast, steel winch ropes store a huge amount of energy under load, and in the event of breakage, they can recoil and lash out violently, potentially causing serious injury to personnel involved in the winching process.
Additionally, HMPE winch lines don’t have any wire splinters or burrs like steel wire ropes commonly do, making them safe for handling and recycling.
2)Strength and weight
The HMPE winch rope has a very high strength-to-weight ratio and has many obvious advantages in its applications. For example, in applications where heavy equipment is used, the HMPE winch rope is flexible, easy to carry, and handle, reducing the burden on equipment and shortening construction time. In a typical off-road vehicle, using an HMPE winch rope will significantly reduce the weight at the front of the vehicle
3)Fatigue resistance
The main chain of HMPE fiber is a soft polyethylene chain with very high molecular weight, and the binding force between molecular chains is very high. Therefore, the fatigue resistance of HMPE winch line is very excellent. Whether it is used under repeated cyclic loading or bending under high tension, it will not affect the service life of the rope.
Usage Matters
Optima winch ropes possess all the advantages of steel wire ropes but are more prone to abrasion. Proper usage techniques are critical for the longevity of synthetic ropes.
when the contact surface has burrs, rust, sharp edges, or irregular shapes, the rope should not be directly installed and used, as this can cause the rope to be cut, worn, and the joints to be damaged.
To ensure a longer service life while protecting the lifting equipment, it is necessary to ensure that all surfaces are in the appropriate condition.
